Tragic cyclist a teacher and ‘amazing’ dad

A MAN who died after being found injured was a loving dad and a teacher.

Huw Wright, 43, was found on the road near the Excalibur Drive roundabout in Thornhill, Cardiff, at around 10.45pm on Tuesday, September 15.

It appears the father-oftwo had come off his bicycle, but South Wales Police are continuing to establish the exact circumstan­ces of the incident.

Following the incident, his family issued the following statement: “Huw Wright, 43, a much loved and devoted family man who lived life to the full, tragically lost his life on 15 September, leaving a massive hole in the lives of his family and friends.

“Huw was a respected teacher, who worked at Ysgol Bryn Castell, Bridgend. He had a long career in teaching and was highly regarded by pupils and colleagues alike.

“Huw was a passionate and adventurou­s man who had a vibrant character, with an amazing sense of humour. Huw’s family were the centre of his world.”

Mr Wright was also described as devoted husband to Claire and amazing father to Gruff and Gwyneth.

The statement added: “Huw was the loving son of Sue & Peter, cherished brother to Kathryn, a brother-in-law and fantastic uncle to four nieces and nephews.

“He filled our lives with adventures, travel, holidays and wonderment.

“Huw was the centre of the family, always the first to arrange a meet up, holiday or fun adventure.

“He was a wonderful friend to all, singing in a local choir, supporting Welsh sport and arranging friends get-togethers.

“We as a family are devastated by the sudden loss of our wonderful Huw and will miss him always.”
