Working for you

-

WE are writing to thank the residents of Bridgend and Ogmore for putting their trust in us to represent them as their local Members of the Senedd. It is a huge honour and privilege, and we will do our very best to speak up for our constituents in the Senedd – our Welsh Parliament – and here at home too.

The last year has been one of great sadness. The pandemic has tested us as never before. There will be further challenging times ahead as we build back from the pandemic. But the collective effort of the people in our communities – from the heroes in our health and care services, the police and our schools, other key workers and to countless volunteers – has shown the spirit to succeed in the face of the most dire adversity.

We share those values which have helped us through the trauma of the last year, of looking out for each other and caring for each others’ lives and livelihoods. We firmly believe we achieve more when we work together as a nation, and in our local communities. As we strive to move beyond the pandemic, these values will help us create the fairer, more sustainable jobs and economy, society and natural environment we all want.

So we will work to deliver on our manifesto pledges to invest in our NHS to put it back on track, including a new medical school; to pay our care workers the Real Living Wage; to fund up to 1,800 additional tutoring staff in schools; to offer young people a guarantee of work, education, training, or selfemployment; to abolish the use of the most littered, single use plastics; to put more police community support officers on our streets; and to build 20,000 new low carbon homes creating thousands of new jobs, as well as so much more.

We will also be here for you, accessible in our constituency offices and surgeries and coffee mornings, by email and by phone. Thank you for your support. Whether you voted for us or not, we are here for you. Huw Irranca-Davies MS Sarah Murphy MS
