We have enough representatives
LET me say, at the outset, that maths was never my strongest subject in grammar school, as algebra, geometry and trigonometry were like foreign languages to me.
So, I do not have maths on my success list. However, I manage very effectively with arithmetic and therefore I was drawn to a report relating to Mark Drakeford’s enthusiasm for an increase in members of the Senedd from 60 to 80, or even 90.
Wales has a population of just over three million while the United
Kingdom has a population of 66 million, over 20 times more. So, with Parliament represented by 650 members, why is it that Wales cannot cope with the present representation? Based on 60, we are already over-represented.
By my limited reckoning, that means there should be well over 1,300 MPs now.
This is not just the wrong time to consider this increase, it should not even be on the agenda.
However, gravy and t train spring to mind.
