PLANT OF THE WEEK

-

I’m always happy to extol the virtues of a hardy geranium – they’re such hard-working plants that flower their socks off without being overly demanding of attention.

For dry or moist shade you can try the dusky cranesbill which flowers in May and June, and sometimes again if you cut them back after flowering.

The foliage is handsome with purple blotches and the flowers are a dusky purple.

‘Wendy’s Wish’ is a relatively new variety which has beautiful white flowers with a lilac centre Lift and divide in spring to rejuvenate congested clumps and to propagate.
