Devolved nations need to be in the EU

-

MR Johnson’s brainless musings about the UK being a single country, together with Mr Raab’s crass comments on the radio about Spain and Barcelonia (sic), support my hypothesis, first posited in my PhD thesis (Cardiff University, 2002) that EU membership and devolution are symbiotic; the corollary being that Brexit and devolution are incompatible.

It follows that if Scotland, Wales and the North of Ireland want devolution at all they must now go for it all the way, i.e. independence for Scotland and Wales, and a reunited Ireland, all within the EU, ideally forming i a Celtic Alliance.
