Male motorcyclist dies in morning accident
A MALE motorcyclist has died after an early-morning accident involving a lorry.
It happened on the A48 Bridgend bypass last Wednesday morning.
South Wales Police said that a 54-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following the crash. He has been taken to Queen’s Road police station in Bridgend.
The road was closed just after 6am while officers investigated at the scene.
Officers said the road would be closed in both directions between the Porthcawl and Pyle roundabouts “for some time” and drivers were asked to avoid the area.
A statement from the force just after noon said: “The A48 remains closed in both directions between the Pyle and Porthcawl junctions. Please continue to avoid the area and plan alternative routes.”
There was heavy traffic between Heol-Y-Splot (Stormy Down) and A4106 Bridgend Road, at the Redhill Roundabout for most of Wednesday morning.
