Cleaning company grows for fifth year in a row

-

A CLEANING company saw growth of 133% while celebrating its 10th anniversary.

Bridgend-based cleaning company, A&R Cleaning has seen the business grow for the fifth consecutive year. The past year the firm created new positions for people across Cardiff, Swansea and Newport, further expanding their footprint across South Wales.

Rayner Davies initially started the business out as an ironing service before customers started asking if she did cleaning as well. In 2010, along with her husband Ashley, they established A&R Cleaning and now employ more than 300 staff members across South Wales and the South West of England.

Ms Davies, managing director, said: “We are delighted to have seen the business thrive throughout what has been a challenging year for many and we are so proud of our hard-working team. A&R Cleaning truly is one big family and it is our familybusiness ethos, and the exceptional effort of our team, that has been pivotal to our success.”

Diversifying in the face of Covid19, A&R Cleaning has adapted their offering to include bio-misting and other services to ensure that workplaces are safe to return to during and after the pandemic.

Looking to build on their success, A&R Cleaning has projected a further 66% growth in 2021 and are currently on target to exceed £5m turnover. They plan on exceeding 400 staff members by the end of the year. Mr Davies, finance and sales director, said: “We are incredibly proud to have seen continued growth over the past five years, and are on target to exceed our goals for 2021.”

Ms Davies added: “We have some exciting plans in the pipeline for A&R Cleaning and we are on track to double our staff this year. Even with our continued growth, it is important for us to keep our familybusiness ethos at the centre, including a key focus on our team’s mental health and well-being.”

A&R Cleaning was placed number 33 on the list of fastest growing companies in Wales at the end of last year. The Wales Fast Growth 50 is seen as the definitive guide to the fastest growing indigenous firm in the Welsh economy. Earlier this year A&R won contracts with Hugh James for its central Cardiff office and Welsh Water.

A&R now provide commercial cleaning services to 52 Welsh Water offices, water treatment facilities and visitor centre sites across Wales and Herefordshire.

At the time Ms Davies said:

“This contract will see us grow into the next stage of our business and give us a platform to showcases our core values as a family business.”
