Football team scores £1k grant

-

A BRIDGEND football team has hit the back of the net with a grant towards new training equipment and kit. Sunday league team Brynach FC has scored £1,000 from Persimmon Homes West Wales.

The money comes as part of the housebuilder’s Community

Champions scheme. Each and every month Persimmon donates up to £64,000 to good causes across the UK

The club was recently created by residents of Persimmon’s Dol Yr Ysgol development in Brynmenyn to increase community spirit.

Alex Thompson, of the club, said: “A huge thank you to Persimmon Homes for this generous donation.

“We are completely self-funded so this money will be used towards new training equipment and team kit.

“We have worked very hard to bring the estate community together and this is a big step forward for us.”

Sharon Bouhali, sales director at Persimmon Homes West Wales, said: “We are delighted to be able to support Brynach FC.

“When we build new homes, as we’ve done at Dol Yr Ysgol, we’re also building communities. It’s great to see this area flourishing and I’m sure many of the residents will take pleasure from this new football team.

“It’ll be great to see how.it develops from here and it’s a privilege to be a part of that.”

Dol Yr Ysgol is now sold out, but Persimmon has another development launching soon in Bridgend. The first homes at Llys Ystrad, on Llangewydd Road, are due to go on sale in the coming weeks.
