Second half goal spree earns a Major success

-

LLANTWIT Major got back on track in their quest for promotion from the JD Cymru South league as they conjured up three second half goals to beat Llanelli Town 3-0.

There were no goals for top-scorer Tom Walters on this occasion, but he still made a massive contribution with assists for two of the goals. Llanelli acquitted themselves well in the first-half and would have been pleased to change ends on level terms.

But the home side turned on the style in the second half as Walters setup Connor Goldsworthy for the opening goal two minutes after the break and then assisted Josh Jones to notch the second. That came in the 64th minute and two minutes later Culleen Kinsella made it 3-0 to send his side level on points with top of the table Pontypridd Town.

Ponty were held to a goal less draw at third-placed Briton Fery Llansawel. There are now only four points separating the top three teams after fourth placed Goytre United were held to a 2-2 draw at home against Afan Lido.

Tristan Jenkins notched his 18th goal of the season as Ammanford beat bottom of the table Port Talbot 3-0,while Tom Meechan scored a goal in each half to guide Cwmbran Celtic to a 2-1 home win over Trefelin.

IN the JD Cymru Premier, Ben Ahmun notched a 21-minute hattrick as Penybont hammered Aberystwyth Town 4-0 at home.

Things went from bad to worse for the visitors as they saw Alex Darlington sent-off on the hour mark and Nathan Wood add a fourth goal before the end.

While James Waite was on the bench for Newport County following his move to the Football League outside, Penybont boss Rhys Griffiths was able to parade new signing, and former Welsh international, Shaun MacDonald.

Mark Cadwallader got the vital strike for Flint Town United as he scored four minutes into the second half at Jenner Park to give his side a 1-0 win over Barry Town United. That enabled them to move to within a point of Newtown in second.
