Discover a new Galaxy
Samsung’s next generation of tech goodies includes three smartphones – one with a whopping 200MP camera – and a trio of terrific new laptops too
SAMSUNG unveiled its nextgeneration of Galaxy S phones this week – and the headline feature is that one of them offers a massive 200MP camera.
There are three new phones to look forward to in the Galaxy S23 family, and that’s not all – Samsung also showed off three new laptops in its Book3 lineup.
The top-of-the-line S23 Ultra is the one with all the bells and whistles – a 6.8in screen and a stylus continues the theme of the Ultra being a replacement for the discontinued Note.
The screen curves round the edges of the device for a sleek and unique look.
The Ultra has a 5,000mAh battery and is powered by a custom Snapdragon chip from Qualcomm which should be an absolute screamer.
The 200MP main camera is the attention-grabber, though.
Samsung says it’ll use pixel grouping to ensure significantly better performance in low light.
As well as the main camera there’s also an ultra-wide and telephoto lens at 12MP and 10MP.
The standard S23 will also feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chip, so should be just as powerful as the Ultra.
There’s also a very capable camera system with a 50MP main wide unit, and ultra-wide and telephoto, also at 12MP and 10MP.
The 6.1in screen is flat, making the most obvious design change from the Ultra. Also gone is the raised housing around the camera units on the back, leading to a simpler look.
The S23+ is more or less the same as the standard S23, but supersized with a 6.6in screen and bigger battery – it’s a 4,700mAh in the S23+, while there’s a 3,900mAh in the standard S23.
S a m s u n g ’s new laptop lineup is headed by the Book3 Ultra –a powerful machine with Intel’s Raptor Lake 13th generation i7 or i9 chips at its heart, and strong graphics performance from Nvidia.
The 16.5in Ultra is complemented by two versions of a Raptor Lake i5 or i7 machine, with screens of 16in or 14in. Intel’s Iris Xe chip provides the graphics power.
The third device in the line-up is a bit more interesting than what you’ll be getting from the very capable, but fairly straightforward Ultra and Pro.
The Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 has a very long name, but is a great-looking hybrid laptop/tablet with support for Samsung’s excellent S Pen and an expansive 16in display.
All three S23 models will be available on February 17 and can be ordered now. The Ultra starts at, £1,249, the S23+ at £1,049, and the S23 at £849. The Book3 Ultra will be available to pre-order from 14 February and on sale from 22 February. The Book3 Pro and Pro360 will go on sale on February 17 and can be ordered now. The Ultra starts at £2,449, the Pro 360 at £1,549 and the Pro at £1,349. Find out more at samsung.com/uk/
