90th Birthday: Congratula­tions, Love and Best Wishes to a longstandi­ng friend and the smartest gentleman in Bridgend (originally from Maesteg ) namely Ronnie Fahey, of Oaklands, Bridgend, where he has resided with his equally smart wife Maureen since the early 60s.

Ronnie has many attributes including dancing and gardening and will celebrate his 90th Birthday next week.

Ronnie has already celebrated his birthday at The Ivy restaurant in Windsor last week with Maureen, daughter Dawn and son-in-law Martin. They were in Windsor to see his pride and joy, grandson Joe Elliott who was taking part in the Changing of the Guard at Windsor playing trombone in the Band of The Irish Guards.

A big Happy Birthday from all the family, friends and neighbours and wishing him many more!

Birthday Greetings: Also many Happy Returns to birthday friends/ girls (loosely speaking) this month: Lesley on February 22, Meryl on February 23, Dianne 1 and Diane 2 on February 25.

Bridgend Lions Charity Book Sale:

The annual Charity Book Sale at Westward Community Centre will take place on Friday, April 7 and Saturday April 8.

Books in good condition will be gratefully received and may be taken to the Centre on Sunday mornings between 10.30am and 11.30am.

Bridgend & District Local History Society:

All meetings will be held on the second Wednesday of the month at 7pm in Hope Baptist Church (entry on Derwen Road), Bridgend.

The following is the Programme for 2022/2023 with its speakers. Membership being £10:

March 8 – Gwerfyl Gardner on Dyffryn (the estate & families who lived there)

April 12 – AGM, plus Ian Price on The Williams family of Newcastle.
