Fundraising Concert:

At Bethlehem Life Centre, Cefn Cribwr, on Saturday April 29, at 7pm Admission £10.

Performers include Kenfig Hill Male Voice Choir, Rhian Hughes, Soprano Soloist and Sage Taylor, Teenage Violinist and Composer.

Organised by Win Griffiths to raise funds to organise a fruit tree growing project involving schools in the Bridgend area – Heronsbridge, Bryntirion Comprehensive and Cefn Cribwr Primary – with six schools in Moshi, Tanzania and a school in Francistown, Botswana.

The Bridgend schools are growing apple, pear and plum trees. The schools in Moshi and Francistown are growing a selection from orange, lemon, mango, avocado, guava, grapefruit and papaya (pawpaw).

The idea is to get pupils to share their experiences of growing fruit trees in very different climates using modern media, and also to raise awareness of the value of fresh fruit (and vegetables) on the doorstep.

Some £1,200 needs to be raised to cover the cost of the fruit trees. BOTAWA, a longstanding South Wales schools partnership spearheaded by Heronsbridge, is contributing £2,000, particularly to cover the cost of sinking wells at some of the schools in Moshi.

To purchase tickets please contact Win Griffithson 07976 353 422 or 01656 740 526 or you can email: ceriwin@talk21.com.
