CREEPSHOW:

HOLIDAY SPECIAL 2023

Anyone else miss the days when magazines did seasonal specials?

From Look In’s summer extras to 2000AD’s Sci-Fi Special, there was always something magical about picking one up.

The Creepshow Holiday Special continues that fine tradition. There are creepy tales galore from Daniel Kraus, who wrote the novelisation of Guillermo del Toro’s movie The Shape of Water, and James Asmus who has written comics for Rick and Morty and X-Men.

The story of the terrifying Christmas Man, and a cautionary tale entitled Package Thief, will put some fear in your Christmas cheer.

Creepshow: Holiday Special 2023 is out now, priced £3.90.

STUFF OF NIGHTMARES: SLAY RIDE

For those seeking a few nightmares before Christmas, this one-shot from Boom! Studios should suffice.

From the pen of legendary

Goosebumps author RL Stine, this new tale could make you want to block up your chimney.

Slay Ride marks the return of The Nightmare Keeper, who will share the tale of Heinrick Fiddler, a once proud mall

Santa he’s now out of work. But his rage means he’s dead-set on making sure department store shopping isn’t the only thing that’s deceased.

Stuff of Nightmares: Slay Ride is out now, priced £7.80.

Look out for variant covers, like the one pictured, that glows in the dark and costs £9.80.

TIME TRAVELER TALES #1

Something gentler to recommend now, that marks a comic debut for a new writer.

Karl Jacobs, who made a name for himself as a YouTuber and Twitch streamer, was inspired to create the Time Traveler Tales by Minecraft. The comic follows Oliver who, thanks to a mysterious force, keeps finding himself travelling through time.

His first stop finds him in the Wild West, but he soon realises this is only the beginning of his adventures. Out now, £3.90.
