Heroin and crack cocaine found in drug dealer’s flat

-

A DRUG DEALER was found with more than £700 worth of heroin and crack cocaine when police raided the flat he was staying at.

They also found small amounts of cannabis for the dealer’s own use.

Daniel Bramwell, 38, of Bridgend, was visited by police at around 11pm on April 4, 2022, after intelligence had been gathered from the seized mobile phone of a drug user. Messages sent by the defendant suggested he was involved in the supply of Class A drugs.

A sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court heard a search of the defendant’s flat in Nolton Street was carried out and in his shorts pockets were two wraps of brown powder, one wrap of white powder and £185 in cash.

He claimed the drugs were for his own personal use but messages on his phone between March and April 2022 showed he had been dealing heroin and crack cocaine.

Prosecutor Harriet Ealden said the total amount of drugs seized included 6.17g of heroin with a street value of £600, 1.31g of crack cocaine with a street value of £130, and 0.811g of heroin, found in Rizla wraps, worth £60.

A small amount of cannabis, less than 2g, was also found but a drugs expert concluded it was for the defendant’s personal use.

Bramwell, now of Heol y Ross, Brackla, Bridgend, pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and one count of possessing Class B drugs.

The court heard he has 37 previous convictions but, other than a caution for possession of cannabis, this is his first drug-related offence.

In mitigation, Robert Chudleigh said his client, a father-of-four, had found himself homeless following the breakdown of a relationship and became involved with people who used drugs.

He became a drug user himself and began dealing for his own benefit but Mr Chudleigh said the defendant led a “modest lifestyle” and did not make a great deal of money.

Judge Carl Harrison sentenced Bramwell to a total of twhree years’ imprisonment. He will serve half the sentence in custody before he is released to serve the remainder on licence.
