Never say never, says Ruth on Gavin & Stacey rumours

-

GAVIN & Stacey star and co-creator Ruth Jones has spoken about the possible return of the series after she was supported by her co-stars.

The Bridgend actress is currently performing in the West End in Sister Act and many of her co-stars from the BBC sitcom came to watch her on opening night.

Appearing on the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on BBC Radio, Ruth spoke about her co-stars and the return of the hit sitcom, which was reported last month as making a comeback this Christmas.

She said: “The last time I sang songs on stage was with Rob Brydon in Porthcawl Comprehensive, in the school shows.

“He was there last night, James [Corden] was there with his mum ... it was lovely. Alison Steadman came as well and Melanie [Walters] who plays Gwen, Jason, they were there, it was lovely to see them, it really was.”

Ruth then went on to say “never say never” about

Gavin & Stacey returning to screens.

She said: “James and I think those characters exist, that they really exist, and that Nessa is still working down the slots in Barry

Island at the moment, we like to o think their lives are carrying on down there.”

When asked if we would ever see them all together again, she e replied: “Who knows? You never er say never in this world, do you? ? I don’t know.”

Recently Ruth has had to address Gavin & Stacey returning after there were many rumours there was going to be a 2024 Christmas special.

Speaking on RTE Radio 1 in Ireland, Ruth said: “It’s lovely that people love it. It’s sadly a rumour ... if there was something ng to say, James and I would happily announce it.”

The rumours began after TV and film industry newsite Deadline reported that filming for the Christmas special would take place this summer. Deadline also reported that the majority of the main cast will likely return for the special.

There have also been rumours that Netflix and BBC are in a bidding war over the sitcom, which Ruth also commented on.

She said: “A bidding war – where’s this coming from?” she continued. “James and I talk about Gavin & Stacey a lot – it’s a huge part of our lives. We are completely grateful for what it’s done for our lives.”
