JD CYMRU PREMIER

-

ABERYSTWYTH Town boss Anthony Williams says his side will continue to battle on the field – as they await their fate off it.

Williams watched his side lift themselves out of the relegation zone in the JD Cymru Premier after a dramatic late finish resulted in a 2-1 win over Colwyn Bay.

Zac Hartley was the hero for Aber in added time at Llanelian Road, reacting quickest to turn the ball home.

Moments earlier, Dan Atkins looked to have secured a vital point for Bay when his 88thminute leveller cancelled out Aber skipper Jack Thorn’s opener.

This result, coupled with Pontypridd United’s 1-0 reverse against Haverfordwest County, means Williams’ men are two points clear of the bottom two.

However the Park Avenue club still have an FAW charge hanging over them after arriving for their match at Pontypridd earlier this month without a physio, forcing the match to be postponed.

“We’ll keep going until the end,” said Williams. “It was a battling performance but that’s what we do and what we’re good at – and we’ve got four more battles to go.”

Colwyn Bay are now four points from safety with three matches to play, while Pontypridd dropped into the bottom two.

With the game at USW Sport Park heading towards a stalemate, Iori Humphries was brought down by keeper Ash Morris, with Rhys Abbruzzese scoring with the resulting penalty.

The other game in the Play

Off Conference ended goalless between Barry Town United and Penybont.

The only game in the Championship Conference finished goalless between Connah’s Quay Nomads and Newtown.
