Big Brother star claims he’s related to rugby legend

-

RADIO presenter and Celebrity Big Brother contestant Jordan North has opened up on his Welsh family connections – and claimed he may even be related to Welsh rugby star George North.

Jordan recently left BBC Radio 1 and joined rival radio station Capital as the new co-host of the Capital Breakfast Show.

He joins Chris Stark and Sian Welby in presenting the early programme.

And on a recent regional visit to Capital South Wales in Cardiff, Jordan revealed to Drive presenters Josh and Jess that he has strong links to Wales, saying: “My grandad Gwyn was from Maesteg, near Bridgend.

“Recently, my auntie told me that she’s pretty sure we might be related to George North!

“So, if any of George North’s family are listening, get in touch, we need to sort this out.”

Rugby phenomenon George North made Welsh rugby history by being the youngest player to score a try on his debut at the age of 18.

While he recently retired from international rugby after an impressive career playing for Wales, which saw him gain 121 caps, he is currently playing for the French second-division team Provence Rugby.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time Jordan has enjoyed a headline-grabbing visit to Wales.

In 2020 he took part in I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! which was filmed in Gwrych Castle in Conwy.

He was the series runner-up to winner Giovanna Fletcher.

Jordan is being replaced on Radio 1 by Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing, who will now be hosting the station’s drivetime show.

Jamie will join Vick Hope to co-host Going Home, which broadcasts from 3.30pm to 6pm Monday to Thursday.
