Four arrested as drugs raids net £170,000 haul

Cannabis and cocaine found in police operation

FOUR people have been arrested after drugs worth £170,000 were seized in a police raids.

Of ficers recovered large quanties of cannabis and cocaine during two separate operations in Lanarkshir­e.

Police searched a house in Underwood Road, Newmains, at 10.15pm on Wednesday and recovered cocaine worth £80,000 and cannabis wor th £75,000. Two men, aged 30 and 34, and a woman, aged 30, were due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff court today.

In a separate opera- tion, officers searched a house in Glendale Avenue, Airdrie, at around 12.30pm on Wednesday and recovered cannabis worth £15,000.

A four figure sum of cash was also seized.

A 42-year-old man appeared at Airdrie Sheriff Court yesterday in connection with the raid. Detective Chief Inspector Pat Campbell,

“We will continue to seek out anyone involved in the sale and supply of controlled drugs i n our local areas.

Earlier this month officers recovered cannabis plants with a street value of £750,000 from a house in Kirkintill­och.

Officers also discovered an extensive heating and lighting system which was being used to ensure the growth of the plants.

Two men, aged 39 and 40, were arrested and appeared in court.
