What’s expected . . .

quickish ground in the Richmond at the Glorious meeting. He still ran a cracker to split Heavy Metal and Cay Verde, who have since chased home Blaine in the Gimcrack at York. Our fellow will be better suited by this extra furlong.

THA’IR (2.50 Sandown) He has shown a good level of form this season and has been working well at home. He is now ready to run again and this looks to be the right race as Sandown will suit. We are looking for a good result.

MOCENIGO (2.50 Sandown) When I rode him first time out at Lingfield we quietly fancied him and bumped into a nice horse of David Lanigan’s (No Jet Lag) who had had a run at Newmarket. He beat me a short head. The next time I rode him at Southwell he was the shortest-priced favourite I’ve ever ridden – 1-25. He obliged. He’s very uncomplicated. I rode him work on Tuesday morning and I was very pleased with him. He’s improved since his last run again. He won’t want it too quick. That’s the only thing. He has quite a knee action. He missed an engagement at Redcar on Saturday and the horse that beat him won that race by five lengths so the form is working out.

MAKING EYES (3.25 Sandown) She’s in really good order and I think she will run her very best race. Whether that will be good enough we will have to see. She will have to improve just to get among the places, so it’s fingers crossed. I think I tried to race her too much last year. I found she needs four or five weeks between a run and when she is at her best she is angry to deal with. You know when she’s well when she’s biting you. She needs that bit of freshness to be at her best.

DALKOVA (3.25 Sandown) She broke her maiden at Ascot and can hopefully grab a slice of black type in what looks a competitive Atlanta Stakes.

Richard Hannon, trainer PRINCESS OF ORANGE

(3.25 Sandown) She won very well last time. She’s gone up to 91 now. It’s very hard to find races for her now she’s gone up that mark. This is a fillies’ only, she’s improving and we think she will run a big race. It’s wide open and she’s not the lowest rated horse in by any means. She’s in good form so we might as well have a crack at it.

Rae Guest, trainer

CLINICAL (3.25 Sandown) She likes to hear her hooves rattle, so if conditions remain as they are that would be quite handy. I think the forecast is for it to be like that.
