Rovers ready to come up to scratch
ToDD LUmSDen is confident Albion Rovers will get better with time – with today’s trip to east Fife the ideal starting point to kickstart their season.
The Coatbridge side are not only waiting for their first points in the Irn-Bru Second Division this season, but also a goal.
however, the Rovers’ boss insists there are reasons to be cheerful after a frustrating opening three weeks.
he said: “If you look back over the games, we had a narrow defeat to Brechin, the Alloa performance wasn’t acceptable – and we spoke about that and dealt with it – but the performance last weekend was good, especially after going a goal behind and being a man down.
“We were fighting to stay in the game and we did get a chance but, unfortunately, we could not convert the penalty.
“We could have taken a point against one of the title favourites so it wasn’t too bad, even although we didn’t pick up any points.
“The second-half performance last Saturday showed the desire and commitment that we probably lacked the week before at Alloa.
“We had something to fight for when we were a man down and that brought the team together.
“I hope we can use that as a catalyst to kick on.
“It does take time. The sucess we had last year was a four-year process. It took a long time to get to where we are now and to that level.
“We are effectively starting from scratch again, but we have to look to build on what we achieved last year.”
