Walk through city’s open doors in new link-up venture
DOORS Open Day is taking a step forward in a joint venture with Walk Glasgow.
They now have self-led trails for walkers and cyclists during the two-day festival on September 15 and 16.
Two walking routes have been set up to help visitors plan a stress free day and incorporate a number of buildings into their stroll.
And buildings along the current cycle routes in the city have also been identified, making it easy for cyclists to follow the signs and make some stops on the way.
All seven of these routes are now displayed online and are available for download at www.glasgowdoorsopenday.com/buses.php
For each self-led walking trail a variety of venues have been highlighted and identified as easily accessible from the routes.
Walks Glasgow took on the task of creating, testing and finalising the walking routes in a bid to get visitors to saunter throughout the city.
Heather Macleod, Walk Glasgow Co-ordinator, said: “It’s been great linking up with Doors Open Day to en- courage people to get out and explore the city on foot.
“Both walks start and finish at a subway station and, as well as taking in some interesting venues, go along the River Clyde and through two of Glasgow’s lovely parks.”
Walk Glasgow is an initiative that aims to develop and promote and walking opportunities across the city.
The scheme co-ordinates free, short health walks that are led by volunteers across Glasgow.
