Reid: Shaken but not battered

- By CHRIS JACK

BILLY REID admits that Hamilton had a bad day at the office as they fell to a 4-0 defeat to Partick Thistle on Saturday.

Just days after knocking the Jags out of the Scottish Communities League Cup, they failed to fire at Firhill as Jackie McNamara’s side coasted to victory.

Poor defending cost Accies dear as Thistle kept up their perfect start to the Irn-Bru First Division season, leaving Reid frustrated.

He said: “We were 4-0 down without being battered, lets be honest about it but sometimes that is the way it is in football.

“I thought one or two of us looked tired. Our captain played 120 minutes the other night and he looked tired, certainly in the first half. He has not played a lot of football.

“Stephen Hendrie, who is going to be a fantastic young player, looked really jaded as well. We are going to have to take that.

“We didn’t get helped when Gary Fisher took a blow to the knee in the first minute of the game.

“He soldiered on for 45 minutes, but he had no real influence on the game, he couldn’t get about.

“He is the type of player that will go and battle for the cause.

“It just wasn’t our day. We didn’t come here and get battered, I don’t think it was a battering anyway, but we have lost four goals.”
