RANGERSMANBYMAN

Debut delight for new King David

-

ALEXANDER 6 – Had absolutely no chance with Jamie Duff’s sublime opener for Elgin City. Performed his other duties well. ARGYRIOU 7 – Early days, but the Greek right-back looks a decent find. Solid defensively and a handful going forward. PERRY 6 – Much better, although the young defender still needs time to develop a partnership with Cribari. CRIBARI 6 – The Brazilian was not really tested at any stage. Made his presence felt up front and at the back with some aerial challenges. WALLACE 7 – Put in a powerful shift down his flank. Is there a better Scottish left-back? LITTLE 6 – Not as influential as he has been in recent weeks. Still, he was industrious and set up Lee McCulloch for his second goal before being replaced by Barrie McKay. BLACK 7 – Improves with every game. Did brilliantly to set up his old Hearts team-mate David Templeton for a goal. Was subjected to some meaty challenges. Repaid in kind. MACLEOD 6 – The youngster is coping admirably with playing in such a pivotal role for Rangers. Always eager to get on the ball. TEMPLETON 8 – What a start to his Rangers career. Showed great composure to put his new team 2-1 in front. Added another shortly after half-time. Received a standing ovation as he left the Ibrox field. SHIELS 7 – Ally McCoist should wrap the Ulsterman in cotton wool after every match. Is at the heart of all his new side’s passages of play going forward. Bagged the all-important equaliser. MCCULLOCH 8 – The new captain played up front again and led by example. Netted his 100th career goal just before half-time. Added another in the second half. SUBSTITUTES: McKAY 5 – Took over from Little at 5-1. Caused the visitors’ defence all kind of problems. Forced a fine save from John Gibson with a long-range effort. FAURE 3 – The Frenchman replaced Ian Black. Untroubled by weary opposition. KYLE 3 – Took over from former Hearts team-mate Templeton late on. Worked hard.
