Tributes as socialist firebrand dies at 88

TRIBUTES have been paid to former cabinet minister and Labour party grandee Tony Benn, who has died aged 88. Mr Benn, who was an MP for more than 50 years, was described by First Minister Alex Salmond as an “outstanding figure”.

His four children announced this morning that he had died peacefully at his London home.
