Use the head to stay within the rules

- By DANIEL CARLIN

RyAn FinneRty insists Chris Frank must stay on the right side of the law if Braehead Clan are to prosper.

the American received a four-game suspension for a check to the head during the Glasgow club’s game at Cardiff last month.

that ruled him out of last weekend’s 4-0 derby defeat to Fife Flyers and the 2-0 win away to the Hull Stingrays.

the defenceman is also due to sit out tonight’s tie at Dundee Stars and tomorrow’s clash with Coventry Blaze.

And Clan head coach Finnerty insists his nononsense hitman must walk a fine line or risk letting his team down.

“it’s a huge deal to have Chris playing,” he said.

“When you compile it with other injuries it makes it even more tough to lose him but it’s a learning curve.

“it proves how important he is to the team, we can’t have him watching games from the sidelines.

“But we’ve had talks and good meetings but he needs to understand that he’s got to play on the edge.

“But in a way that allows him not to take bad penalties or get suspended.

“He’s got to find that fine line.”

Looking to this weekend, Finnerty added: “in the challenge cup we dropped one game in Fife so we definitely don’t want to be dropping any more goals tonight so we can finish top of the group.

“it’s going to be a good challenge for us going to Coventry.

“We don’t want to be going down a bit under strength, but that’s okay. We will go there and it will be a good chance to see where we’re at.”
