Tena wary of a Senor momentas dad jets in

- By JOHN McGILL

HAmilton defender Jesus Garcia tena has no fears over facing Celtic – but he might be wary of his father’s reaction if he does not perform.

the central defender’s parents are travelling from his native Spain this weekend as high-flying Accies take on the Scottish Premiership champions.

their presence will inspire the 23-year-old but he knows his father, a former professional footballer himself, will not be shy about criticising any mistakes.

Garcia tena said: “my dad is my biggest critic. He wants the best for me and he was a football player, so you cannot lie to him.

“He played in the second division in Spain for our home town team, terrassa.

“i cannot compare myself to him because he was a midfielder and i did not see him at his peak, but i have been told he was quite good.

“i have a brother (Pol Garcia tena) who plays in italy, he is on loan from Juventus to Vicenza in Serie B.

“He is going to make his fifth start at the weekend. He is just 19 and he is really good.”

Accies go into the game on a nine-match unbeaten run which hit new heights when they won 4-0 at lanarkshire rivals motherwell on Saturday.

“i don’t think you should go to any game and be scared, because you lose something,” the defender said. “We need to go and play our game, which is to attack.

“We started really well last season and got promoted and by keeping most of the players, we know what we can achieve and we know that we will fight for each other.

“Everyone is surprised at how well we are doing, but i think we can do more. As soon as we secure survival, we can dream of something more.”
