A problem on the move
MUCH has been said about the problems surrounding the Hielanman’s Umbrella.
Passing there the other night, I noticed homeless people have just moved home to the fire exit next to the one blocked off.
Can the council not think forward and block or ask a well known restaurant to move the exit doors?
In addition, what is stopping the council from taking away the phone boxes which are just another reason for people to use the area as a public toilet?

Shop talk
REGARDS the city’s shop closures – Crockets a couple of weeks ago and now MacDonald Furniture. Where next? I know where it won’t be – bookies, pound shops and quick cash shops.

Bus stop
FESTIVE fines could be scrapped, Evening Times, Friday March 20 – at last a bit of common sense from the council re bus lanes.
They have milked them well and now are putting on the bountiful act as though they are doing motorists a big favour.
They should have a good look at some of the single and double deck diesel spouters that masquerade as buses. They are probably polluting the atmosphere more than any private car.

Sun spots
LIKE many people, I turned out on the streets of Glasgow to try and see the partial eclipse. It might not have been that great in the city, but I did feel a sense of being part of history.
Office workers standing shoulder to shoulder gazing up and people stopping what they were doing really gave it a sense of occasion.
It will be a long time until the next one, so it was important to at least make the effort to be part of this one.

Good for Nicki
I WAS very heartened to hear that rap star Nicki Minaj is meeting a brave Glasgow hero who helped a woman in a city park.
So often you feel that stars jet in to the Hydro and might not realise which city they are in.
However, Ms Minaj should be congratulated here. Meeting this young man is not something many stars would even dream of.
