Rashford shines again for United

MARCUS Rashford achieved the nearimposs­ible atOld Trafford yesterday by uniting touchline adversarie­s Louis van Gaal and Arsene Wenger in appreciati­on of his debutdoubl­e.

The 18-year-old built on his midweek brace againstFC Midtylland with the firsttwo goals as his side puta huge dent in the Gunners’ Premier League title aspiration­s with a 3-2 win.

For a clash with such gladiatori­al history it ranks as another in Rashford’s sky-rocketing listof recent achievemen­ts.

Wenger admitted: “The player who surprised me talent-wise was Rashford because of the timing of his movementan­d his intelligen­ce.

“His movementin the box was greatand he could be a very positive surprise for Manchester United on whatI’ve seen.”

Van Gaal paid tribute to Rashford, who lashed home United’s opener in the 29th minute then headed a superb second justtwo minutes later, as well as setting up the decisive third for Ander Herrera.

He said: “I think his performanc­e was better than the firstmatch. Whathe showed in his second match is special.”

Wenger admitted the defeathad dealthis side a major blow in their fight for the title but maintained the Gunners are still very much in the running as they head into Wednesday’s game againstSwa­nsea five points adriftof Leicester.

“We dropped three importantp­oints today butwe have to show we are up for the fightand bounce back on Wednesday,” he added.
