Miller: We will be ready for final

-

KENNY Miller last night insisted there should be no fears about Rangers’ fitness when they return to action after a threeweek break in the Scottish Cup final on May 21.

The Light Blues are having four days off before returning to training at their Murray Park base on Friday. Over the course of that fortnight, Rangers will play a closed-doors friendly with Spurs down south with Miller confident that the rest will help rather than hinder his teammates.

“We have earned our rest and it’s important that we recover as there are a few lads with knocks and niggles,” he said.

“These days off and three weeks before the cup final will give us time to recover. Come May 21, we should be fighting fit, ready to go and definitely be fresh.”

Rangers have the opportunity to secure an unprecedented domestic treble this season, having already won the Ladbrokes Championship and the Petrofac Training Cup.

Miller realises those trophies were expected of the club as they aimed to make it back into the top flight of Scottish football at the second attempt, but he believes a Scottish Cup triumph over Hibs would make this a hugely special campaign.

“When you set out at the start of the season, you can try and belittle the fact there are no top-flight teams in the Petrofac, but the bottom line is we had to go out and do it,” he said in an interview with the official club website.

“If we didn’t, it would have been a disaster for the club as we’ve seen in the last few years.

“The league was always the priority and we did that.

“The Petrofac was a great bonus.

“What an end it would be if we win the Scottish Cup and get ourselves into the Europa League.”
