Tierney: I want to be Hoops legend

-

KIERAN TIERNEY says he wants to stay at his “dream club” Celtic and become a Hoops legend, despite speculation linking him with some of the biggest clubs in England.

Arsenal are the latest English Premier League giant to be credited with an interest in the 18-year-old, while Manchester City and Liverpool are also believed to be monitoring his progress closely.

For lifelong Celtic supporter and former ball boy Tierney though, there is only one place where he wants to spend his career.

“Celtic is my dream club,” he said. “I’ve been here for 11 years and I’m playing first-team football. “I’m loving every minute of it.

“I tend not to look at stories about me too much, although sometimes you cannot avoid it. It’s big clubs, but it’s just Celtic for me.

“I need to realise how lucky I am to be in this position and I try my best every day to be so grateful for it. “When you are a wee guy, you want to grow up and become a Celtic legend. Obviously, I am miles off that just now because my career has only just started.

“I just hope I can keep on playing for Celtic. That’s all I want.”

Tierney’s dream season was topped off on Saturday as he lapped up the celebrations after Celtic’s win over Hearts virtually secured a fifth title.

“If you saw me at Tynecastle, you would have noticed that I didn’t want to come off the pitch. I honestly didn’t want the celebrations to end,” he said.
