Birthday bash for tragic teenager Paige
A SIXTEENTH birthday celebration for murdered teenager Paige Doherty has been hailed a success.
Paige’s heartbroken mum Pamela Munro said her daughter would have been at the party in spirit and thanked everyone for attending.
The sweet16 was held on Friday in Clydebank’s 543 club after friends of the teenager organised a party to celebrate Paige’s birthday which would have been in April.
Pamela said: “Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated our angel’s sweet 16.
“The only thing that would have made last night better was her being there but she would have been there in spirit partying with us all.”
She added: “The tribute was just beautiful. Paige would be proud to call us all family and friends.
“Her death’s been so tragic and unbearable but it’s also done a lot for many people and it amazes me that it’s all down to everyone pulling together for this little angel.
“Friendships have been made, family have joined back together and broken friendships repaired.
“Sleep tight little lady. See you again one day in heaven. Love you forever.”
The 32-year-old mum also made a plea to family and friends to visit Paige’s grave.
She revealed that she was going on a holiday with her children and partner Andy – and she didn’t want Paige to be alone.
She said: “I am going away for next two weeks so if all my friends and family could please go and visit Paige at the cemetery and keep her company for me it would be much appreciated. I obviously won’t get up and I don’t want her there everyday by herself.”
Hundreds of mourners gathered at St Margaret’s Church in Clydebank to say their final farewell to Paige. They celebrated the teenager’s life by wearing bright colours and T-shirts with the slogan Pout for Paige.
A man charged with the murder of 15-year-old Paige recently made a second private appearance in court.
John Leathem, 31, of Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, made no plea or declaration during the full committal hearing at Dumbarton Sheriff Court. He was remanded in custody after the hearing, which came less than a week after his initial appearance in the dock.
