Plea to monitor council driving standards

-

PEOPLE are being encouraged to report what they think of the way council vehicles are driven.

West Dunbartonshire council has relaunched its How’s My Driving? scheme, through which members of the public can report instances of poor driving such as speeding or inconsiderate driving behaviour, as well as positive behaviour on the roads.

Each council vehicle is fitted with an information sticker with details on how to report to the scheme on its rear bumper.

The relaunch is seeing hundreds of new stickers put on council vehicles, and the council is renewing its appeal to the public to help it maintain the highest safety standards possible.

Patrick McGlinchey, convener for Infrastructure, Regeneration and Economic Development, said: “The safe use of our vehicles on local roads is an absolute priority for this council and that is why we put so much work into driver training and monitoring.

“In those rare instances where we don’t meet the high standards residents expect, we have the technology in place to help us identify exactly what happened in our council vehicles.

“To do this effectively we still need road users to make us aware if they see unsafe or antisocial behaviour from our staff.

“We are keen to make sure good driving practice continues with help from our residents.”
