GLASGOW’S answer to reality shows The Only Way is Essex and Made in Chelsea, Glow, will go live next month.

THE lives of Glasgow’s glitterati are going to feature in a new online reality show which will air next month.

Dubbed the city’s answer to hit reality shows The Only Way is Essex and Made in Chelsea, Glow will be aired weekly every Thursday at 7pm on a dedicated online channel and via an app which has been designed for fans to catch up with episodes.

The show is a first for production firm GRTV who say their goal is to shine a positive light on Glasgow.

Rangers star Maurice Edu’s former flame Lauren McDonald is one of the stars of the new series, as well as city nightclub owner Brian Matthews.

They were successfully picked to be the show’s stars after the production company received more than 3000 applications.

The pair launched the series – which will begin next month – in Glasgow yesterday, and have already started filming.

Brian, 33, who owns Kavalii nightclub in the Merchant City, is one of the charming stars of the series.

The handsome businessman, who is single, boasts that ex-TOWIE star Mark Wright does not have a look-in and hopes the show will be something more positive for Glasgow.

He said: “All around the world people have this perception of Glasgow being a rough city with a culture of drinking and fighting.

“I applied for this to show people that’s not the case, I want to show the glamorous and successful side of the city.”

Stunning hair stylist Lauren McDonald hopes to change people’s perceptions of her as former WAG and be a positive role model for young girls.

She said: “I think it’s an opportunity for Glasgow to show off the beautiful city it is, and how fabulous and stylish us Glaswegians are.”

The show will also feature professional boxer Paddy Reilly, 30, personal trainer James English, 32, roofing company owner James Drummond, 33, club promoter Tommy McFarlane, 24, nurse Stephanie Rankin, 23, bar manager Denise Wilkie, 24, social media manager Joanne Ferry, 26, barmaid Jemma McMahon, 22, and make-up artist Leanne Jefferey, 28.

Among the cast, a relationship has already formed but producer Stephanie Docherty is remaining tight-lipped about the hook-up.

She said: “We wanted to present the real glamorous side of Glasgow which we experience ourselves when out and about and a reality-drama show seemed like the perfect match.

“Because we are airing the show on a dedicated online channel it means we are not restricted to the usual broadcasting regulation.”

You can watch Glow on www.glasglow.tv from Thursday, October 20.
