Unpaid work order for racist nightclub pest

-

A MAN who sent racially offensive messages to a woman on Facebook messenger after they met in a nightclub has been told to do unpaid work in the community.

Gomes Pedro Sebastiano, 34, appeared in the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing after pleading guilty to a course of conduct which caused the woman fear or alarm.

He admitted that he repeatedly contacted the woman via the social media application Facebook Messenger despite being asked not to on March 30, 2016.

His charge sheet stated that he sent her a message containing abusive and racially offensive comments, and messages containing sexual images.

The procurator fiscal depute told the court that Sebastiano, of Tharsis Street, Glasgow, was eventually tracked down by police officers on July 3.

When he was cautioned and charged for the offence, he replied: “Me, I am not racist, I loved mixed race girls.”

Sebastiano’s defence agent told the court the incident had not happened in isolation.

He said his client and the woman met in a nightclub, exchanged contact details and he had sent messages.

The woman eventually responded and an abusive message was sent to Sebastiano which prompted his response.

Sheriff Miller ordered Sebastiano to complete 140 hours of unpaid work in the community.
