Roberts is showing a hunger for the games

-

CELTIC host Hearts on Sunday afternoon and I fully expect they will go one better than the Lions and take it on to 27 league games undefeated – and to who knows where after that.

I also think we might see Patrick Roberts sneak into the starting line-up for this weekend’s game.

The teenager has come off the bench and made an impact in Celtic’s last two games and while I appreciate that there is always an argument to say that when opposition players are tired it is easier to make an impression, I just think that he looks as though he has an extra trick up his sleeve.

He looks hungry and itching to make an impression – and he seems to always have good innings whenever he comes up against Hearts.

Meanwhile, on another front, there was another reminder this week about the vagaries of social media.

No-one will ever catch me out that because I don’t know how to work Twitter, but Ryan Christie will be wishing that he had never succumbed to its pleasures.

I always think that it is one thing to say something face-to-face and another to have it in black and white – where it is there forever.

I am sure there are very few among us who don’t regret a way they behaved when they were 17.

But the whole thing with slagging off the Aberdeen fans and then turning up to take a jersey underlines that for players it is best to stay away – or at least understand that there will always be things which can come back and bite you on the bum. A lesson others would do well to heed.
