Twoteenagers caged over brutal attack

-

TWO young thugs left a teenager badly brain damaged after a so-called “truce” ended in savage violence.

The attack by Connor Anderson, 18, and a 17 year-old boy – already on six bail orders – was so bad it was feared their victim would die.

The 16 year-old boy who was brutally beaten last July had previously fallen out with Anderson but tried to patch things up.

The 17 year-old boy and a then 15-year-old schoolgirl had hours earlier battered a stranger returning from work.

A judge heard how William George was set upon with such force the female thug’s footprint was on his face.

The stricken 29-year-old now also needs a specialist brain injury unit to look after him. Details of the violence emerged as the three attackers appeared in the dock at the High Court in Glasgow.

Anderson was locked up for six years and four months after the attempted murder of the 16-yearold. The 17 year-old also admitted to the same charge as well as assaulting Mr George to his severe injury. He was locked up for seven years and 10 months.

However, the schoolgirl – now 16 and pregnant – was spared custody after a judge told her she was getting an opportunity” to prove she could “stay out of trouble”.

After she also admitted assaulting Mr George to his severe injury, the mum-to-be was ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work.

The murder bid on the 16-yearold occurred in the early hours of last July 11 in New Stevenston, North Lanarkshire.

The court heard the victim met with Anderson to call “a truce” after an apparent fall-out.

Anderson instead punched the youngster before the 17-year-old joined the attack.

As the victim lay unconscious, he was repeatedly punched, kicked and stamped upon.

Just hours earlier, the 17-yearold and the schoolgirl had pounced on William George in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire.

He was “completely unknown” to his attackers. Mr McVicar said he was subjected to “significant” force including being stamped on the head.
