Allianz Park date for Warriors Euro crunch

- By STUART BATHGATE

GLASGOW Warriors’ Champions Cup quarterfinal against Saracens will take place at Allianz Park in north London on Sunday, April 2, kicking off at 1pm.

The holders’ ground will have a capacity of at least 15,000, and European rules mean that the Warriors will get a ticket allocation of 25 per cent. The match, Glasgow’s first in the last eight of European competition, will also be shown live on Sky Sports.

Glasgow will sell tickets through their website, www.glasgowwarriors.org, and season-ticket holders will have at least three days in which to buy before a general sale starts.

The Warriors will email supporters with more details next week.

Saracens, who beat Rac- ing 92 to win the trophy for the first time last season, have played at Allianz Park for nearly four years.

The ground is in the Barnet Copthall complex, near Mill Hill, and is a short bus journey from several London underground stations.

If the Warriors win, they will have a semi-final against the winners of the quarter-final between two other previous winners of the trophy, Munster and Toulouse.

The competition organisers have said Glasgow will have “home country” advantage, and with Scotstoun being too small for such a big match, a number of larger stadiums will come into consideration.

Munster have already beaten Glasgow three times this season – twice in the pool stages of the Champions Cup and once in the PRO12.

Meanwhile, Edinburgh’s Challenge Cup quarterfinal against French club La Rochelle will go ahead at BT Murrayfield two days earlier, on Friday, March 31, at 8pm.

The finals of both tournaments will be held at the national stadium: the Challenge Cup on Friday, May 12, and the Champions Cup on Saturday, May 13.
