Win grants Accies a chance to enjoy their week

- By JOHN McGILL

GRANT Gillespie admits Hamilton’s post-match video session made for better viewing following last week’s much-needed win at Kilmarnock.

An added-time penalty from substitute Rakish Bingham broke the deadlock and took Accies into the fifth round of the William Hill Scottish Cup where they were drawn to play Dunfermline. It was the Lanarkshire side’s first win in 12 matches and they will look to build on that at St Johnstone on Saturday as they look to move away from secondbottom spot in the Ladbrokes Premiership.

Following the welcome win at Rugby Park, Gillespie enjoyed the change of mood when Martin Canning’s squad gathered for their weekly analysis of the previous match.

The Accies right-back said: “It has been a happy camp this week. Everyone coming in on Monday morning had a smile on their face.

“It was nice to watch the video back for once.

“If the game is Saturday or Sunday, we will go over the game on the Monday - win, lose or draw - and pick out what we did wrong and what we did right.

“The performances have been good. It has been depressing that we have not won as many games as we feel that we should and that was the biggest depressing factor watching the games back.

“You feel that in five or six at least we played well enough to win the games but unfortunately we have not came out of it with enough points.

“But everyone was walking in happy that we got the win and it was nice.

“Everyone is full of confidence so we will take that confidence into Saturday and hopefully we can put on a good performance.”
