Tav praise for Warbs’ two loan Rangers

- By CHRIS JACK

JAMES TAVERNIER is pleased that loan stars Emerson Hyndman and Jon Toral have hit the ground running at Rangers this month.

After making their competitive debuts in the Scottish Cup win over Motherwell at Ibrox, the midfield pair were pitched into Premiership action at Fir Park on Saturday.

While Toral played his part in a deserved win for Mark Warburton’s side, it was Hyndman who really caught the eye in Light Blue.

The American produced an accomplished display in the middle of the park and had a hand in Kenny Miller’s opener before he clinched the points with a powerful effort from the edge of the area.

Both will now look to retain their spots for the trip to Tynecastle on Wednesday night and right-back Tavernier is confident there is plenty more to come from the Gers’ January recruits.

He said: “He [Hyndman] has been a credit since he came in. He has worked hard and got us a result [on Saturday]. But even our substitutes came on and made an impact, so it is a squad game. Anyone who comes in to fill a place has got to do well, and he did really well.

“We want to be attackminded and he’s obviously got an eye for a pass – plus he got his goal. So all credit to him, he has come in and done really well.

“The gaffer wanted to add to the team, and bring in players who brought something different to the team. Jon has also come in and done really well.

“But now we’ve got to concentrate on the Hearts game and move forward.

“I’ve had plenty of loan spells – you want to go into a team and impress straight away.

“Jon and Emerson have done that – they have fitted in straight away. They have done really well since they have come in.”
