Blade raider wrapped in bin bags

-

A ROBBER wrapped in black bin bags raided a store as shoppers fled in terror.

Denise Caisley was armed with two large blades as she stormed the Costcutters branch in Barrhead, Renfrewshire last March.

Moments earlier she had told one passer-by: “Back off, I’m going in to do that shop.”

A young child was only feet away as Caisley wildly stabbed at a till to try to get it open.

But, she gave up after failing to get her hands on cash. She was soon caught by police and claimed two mystery men made her carry out the crime.

The 32-year-old admitted an assault and robbery charge at the High Court in Glasgow.

A judge withdrew her bail and remanded her in custody pending sentencing next month.

Caisley had been spotted “creeping” outside the Costcutters around 7pm last March 1.

She had her hands behind her back with a blade in each.

Caisley’s bizarre outfit to try to hide her identity saw her wear large black bin bags and a mask to cover her face. She also wore dark leggings and Latex gloves.

Caisley warned a man outside she was going “to do” the shop.

He yelled into the store a robbery was taking place and told people to flee.

Sentence was deferred for reports.
