GERS MUST MATCH PEDRO PASSION

- By CHRIS JACK

DANNY WILSON is confident Pedro Caixinha can inspire Rangers to finish the season with a flourish as the Light Blues squad look to match his Ibrox intensity levels.

Caixinha took charge of his first training session as Gers boss on Tuesday morning as he stepped up his preparations for the Premiership clash with Hamilton this weekend.

The Portuguese has spent recent days studying how his side have performed under the guidance of caretaker Graeme Murty and got his first taste of Old Firm action as Rangers drew 1-1 at Parkhead on Sunday. Caixinha has

vowed to place high demands on himself and his players as he looks to bring success back to Ibrox in the coming years.

And defender Wilson hopes the Gers squad buy into Caixinha’s managerial methods as he targets second spot in the standings and Scottish Cup glory this term.

He said: “He seems to be the type who gets right involved and you could tell that from when we had the meeting this morning – his passion shone through in that.

“We need to match that and go beyond that as players.

“If he is going to give us that, then we have to give him something in return.

“This season has been fairly disappointing so we need to try to finish on a positive note.

“I’ve only worked with British managers and you maybe see when you watch European football that the managers get more animated on the sidelines.

“If that is his style then great but we need to give him a hand as well.

“It was a bit odd coming in this morning.

“Obviously it was announced on Saturday and it has taken a couple of days to finally meet him.

“We had a short meeting before training and he told us what is expected of us at the club and how we need to be together between now and the end of the season.

“He told us what he expects and what we can expect from him; he talked a lot about how he sees football and how he sees us progressing.

“We all felt it was a positive conversation.

“He told us how he sees us developing as a team and as individuals, so we’re all looking forward to working with him.”
