Caixinha ready to ambush Accies

- By CHRIS JACK

PEDRO CAIXINHA is determined to get off to a winning start as Rangers boss as he prepares for his dugout debut at Ibrox.

The Portuguese saw Graeme Murty lead the Light Blues to a draw at Parkhead on Sunday and he will now make his Gers debut against Hamilton Accies tomorrow.

Caixinha has targeted second spot in the Premiership standings and Scottish Cup success in the coming months after being installed as Mark Warburton’s successor.

He has spent recent days working with his squad at Auchenhowie in an attempt to get his message across ahead of an important run of fixtures for Rangers.

And the 46-year-old hopes to make a positive first impression on the Ibrox crowd as the Gers bid for a crucial top-flight win.

Caixinha said: “I don’t want them [the players] to buy [into] anything. I want them to be convinced. I think we are learning and, by getting together and discussing and matching ideas, it leads to them being convinced.

“[You can’t do] that much [in a couple of days], just changing a little bit of the behaviours of the players, especially in some moments of the game.

“We see the game in four big moments – offensive organisation and transition and defensive organisation and transition. You also need to know what type of opponent you are going to face.

“We will spend most of the time with our identity, which means we will attack most of the time and we must be strong on the defensive transitions. Those were the points we’ve tried to work on this week.

“It [the first game] is always important. It’s always important to start adding three points.

“It’s important to start looking like they have changed the shape.

“From what we have been watching in the training session, I really believe we are going to do something different.”
