Scott can be Bain of Bhoys strikers

- By JOHN McGILL

DEREK SOUTAR insists Dundee keeper Scott Bain will be right in the firing line come Sunday against Celtic – but is tailor-made to deny the Hoops a potential title party.

Former Dark Blues star Soutar is a big fan of Bain, who has been a revelation since signing for Paul Hartley’s men three years ago.

The 25-year-old No.1 is preparing to try to shut out Brendan Rodgers’ rampant side who could clinch the Premiership flag with victory at Dens Park, provided secondtop Aberdeen lose to Hearts 24 hours earlier.

And ex-Aberdeen ace Soutar, who enjoyed two spells at Dens between the sticks, believes Bain has got what it takes to prolong the Parkhead club’s wait to be crowned champions once more.

Soutar said: “Scott is likely to be the busiest man inside Dens on Sunday. But no-one is better equipped to stand up to whatever Celtic throw at him on the day.

“It would have many keepers quaking in their boots at the prospect of facing the likes of Moussa Dembele, Scott Sinclair, Stuart Armstrong and maybe even Leigh Griffiths.

“Scott isn’t fazed by anything, though, and that’s what makes him the keeper he is today.”

Dundee defeated Rangers 2-1 at Dens recently and Soutar knows they must reproduce that kind of display to stand any chance against the Glasgow giants.

He added: “Dundee were excellent against Rangers.

“I was there and you could feel the intensity in their play .

“They’ll need more of the same against Celtic.

“If they can get back to that level of performance, you never know what could happen.”
