MURDER accused Peter Telfer spoke of slitting someone’s throat the day before he allegedly stabbed a pensioner to death.

The 25-year-old is on trial at the High Court in Glasgow, accused of murdering 76-yearold John Baker.

The court heard a witness say that Telfer was “pure hyper” and tried to persuade friends to help him rob somebody.

Telfer is also on trial for further charges including claims he tried to rob two women of their handbags.

A MURDER suspect spoke of slitting someone’s throat the day before he allegedly stabbed a pensioner to death, a court heard.

Peter Telfer was described by a witness as “pure hyper” when he is said to have made the claim last June.

The evidence was heard at the 25-yearold’s trial at the High Court in Glasgow.

Telfer is charged with murdering John Baker, 76, in the city’s Calton, which he denies.

Teenager Danielle McNaughton told how she had been out with friends in Glasgow city centre last June 28.

Telfer was also there. The 18-year-old knew of him as “PT”.

The jury heard how Miss McNaughton later gave a statement to police during the probe into Mr Baker’s death.

In it, she told officers: “He was asking everybody in the group who was up for going to rob somebody with him.

“He was pure hyper and was saying that he was going to slit the person’s throat and do them in.”

Miss McNaughton added PT “looked bouncing”.

Miss McNaughton also told the court that Telfer allegedly had a knife. She said it was “sharp” and she felt “quite intimidated”.

Telfer faces further charges i ncluding claims he tried to rob two women of their handbags on June 28.

One of the alleged victims – air hostess Victoria Weston – told how a man pounced on her close to the city’s Central Station.

The 26 year-old said: “He was pointing the knife while trying to pull the bag away from me.

“He had one end of the strap, I had the other and we were tussling.

“It was very frightening and I felt my adrenaline was pumping through my body.”

Telfer also denies these charges and the trial, before Judge Lord Matthews, continues.
