Peasie is backing Clyde’s safety bid

- By KEN McNAB

PETER MacDONALD lambasted the individual errors which saw Clyde filleted 3-0 by Forfar — then backed them to get the three points they need to secure survival.

The Bully Wee interim co-boss was furious at the gaffes that gave the Ladbrokes League 2 leaders an easy win.

But he is optimistic they can get over the line with two games left.

Clyde currently sit joint second bottom with Berwick — three points ahead of bottom side Cowdenbeath.

The Blue Brazil are due to face promotionchasing Forfar at home on Saturday while Clyde go head-to-head with Berwick at home.

MacDonald said: “We didn’t turn up, lacked energy and a desire to go and win second balls.

“We have come up on the back of two good results, but Forfar got in about us rather than us doing that to them.

“After the poor start we didn’t react. We looked vulnerable in everything we did.

“We just lacked a yard in everything we did and Forfar pounced on that.”

MacDonald, though, is adamant he will have no problem lifting his players for Saturday’s six-pointer.

He added: “We will dust ourselves down and get ready to go again.”

In League 1, Queen’s Park’s hopes of being in the promotion play-off mix suffered a blow when they were crushed 4-0 by newly-crowned champions Livingston.

The result flattered the West Lothian side as three of the goals came in the last 20 minutes.

But results elsewhere mean that the Spiders are still in the hunt for a top four finish. They are sixth on goal difference — but share the same points total as three teams above them — Airdrieonians, Brechin and East Fife with two games left.

Next week they take on bottom side Stenhousemuir and boss Gus Macpherson says it is still all to play for.

He said: “It is in our own hands. But I don’t think we can afford to drop any more points.

“If we win our last two games, the other teams will have plenty to worry about.”
