Have your say on new housing plan

-

TENANTS, residents and landlords are to have their say on a redevelopment which could see 150 homes built in Paisley.

Two consultations have been scheduled this months for proposals which claim to transform the west end of the town.

The events will give people the opportunity to find out more about the draft masterplan for the area which i ncludes Well Street, Underwood Lane, Clavering Street East, Sutherland Street, Oakshaw Brae and West Brae.

The masterplan recommends proposals which could see the the demolition of existing tenement flats, derelict properties and commercial properties in the area.

Building social and private housing has been included in the plans.

The masterplan also proposes clearance of the vacant former University of the West of Scotland halls of residence.

It is proposed this site would be redeveloped for housing along with land behind Well Street and Sutherland Street – relocating the temporary growing grounds on Sutherland Street.

Members of the public have been urged to attend the events.

This is the first stage of consultation on the draft masterplan and feedback from all the consultation events and meetings will be considered and presented to the council’s Communities, Housing and Planning Policy Board in autumn this year.

The drop-in sessions will take place on Monday June 12 from 2pm to 4.30pm and Wednesday June 14 from 4pm to 7pm at the West End Community Centre.
