Wing wiz Plavsic is perfect fit for Bhoys

- By GRAEME McGARRY

CELTIC youth coach Miodrag Krivokapic believes Serbian Srdjan Plavsic would be able to handle a move to the club due to his experience of playing for Red Star Belgrade.

Brendan Rodgers has been credited with an interest in the 21-year-old, with head of recruitment Lee Congerton reportedly watching the player in the European Under-21 Championships in Poland.

Krivokapic says Plavsic is highly regarded in Serbia, and like the former Dundee United and Motherwell defender, should be able to handle the transition to Scottish football due to his grounding in Belgrade.

“He’s a good player, and players from that part of the world tend to be technically good players,” said Krivokapic.

“People back home have told me that he is a good player, but I haven’t spoken to them in any great detail about him really.

“What I can say though is that Red Star are a massive club, so a move to Celtic shouldn’t faze him if that happens. They might not be at the level they were at maybe 20 years ago, but they are still a big club.

“They have a good youth system too and they produce good players. Unfortunately, the league is not as strong as it once was, but Red Star are still a big club with a lot of fans and high expectations.

“When I came over, I had to get used to Scottish football. It is a different style in Serbia, it’s a different type of football.

“Scottish football is much quicker, it’s more aggressive compared to what you might be used to on the continent.

“Sometimes, people underestimate Scottish football. It’s much better than people might say. There’s a lot of good players in Scotland, and it’s very fast and furious, so he would have to handle that.”
