- By STACEY MULLEN

Crime Reporter COPS are still hunting for a taxi driver who mowed down a young man after he refused to give him a lift in Glasgow’s Southside.

The runaway black hackney driver is still on the loose almost a month after the murder bid on Dalmellington Road, Crookston.

The 24-year-old male victim was treated at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for a significant head trauma following the attack that happened last month on Sunday, June 25.

Neighbours in the housing estate ran to his aid while waiting on an ambulance.

Initially the young man was rushed to hospital in a critical condition but cops later confirmed that he had improved, although he suffered serious head injuries.

We also previously revealed that the man and his 22-year-old friend had left a house party and were walking along Dalmellington Road where they attempted to flag down a taxi just after midnight.

The taxi driver refused to take the men resulting in the young man being deliberately run over by the taxi driver.

DI Greg Wilkie, of Greater Glasgow CID, previously said: “It appears that the injured man went on to the road, which is when the taxi deliberately drove at him.

“The taxi didn’t stop and drove off along Dalmellington Road, towards Crookston Road at Raeswood Road.”

The attack as attempted murder. The driver is of Asian appearance, aged 30 to 40-years-old, of medium build with short dark hair.

He was wearing a pink coloured top when he carried out the attack in the quiet residential housing estate.

Last month, cops reviewed CCTV in and around the surrounding areas including Crookston Road and Barrhead Road in a bid to find the route the driver took to make his escape.

Officers launched an appeal for a taxi driver to come forward who had picked up two passengers in Byres Road and dropped them off in Dalmellington Road.

Detective Constable Larry Dempsey, said that they did not believe that the taxi driver was involved in the attack. However, he believed that the driver might have had vital information.

A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed that the investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
