Jamie has no grudge with old boss Craig

- By LINDSAY HERRON

KILMARNOCK keeper Jamie MacDonald insists he bears no grudge against Craig Levein, despite being kicked out of Hearts in the dark administration days of 2014 after being voted player of the season.

MacDonald said: “I’ve seen Craig Levein about, but the last time I really encountered him and properly spoke to him was the day I left Hearts.

“But I don’t hold any grudges. That’s football and you have to accept that’s part of the game. There’s no point in holding grudges.

“Players move on and managers move on. At the time it was obviously a shock because there was a lot going on and nobody knew exactly what was happening but life goes on.

“Thankfully I’m at Kilmarnock now, playing football again and I’m happy.”

Kilmarnock head to the home of Scottish rugby still joint-bottom of the table despite terrific away points at Ibrox and Celtic Park and a decent performance against Hibs that ended in a 3-0 defeat.

And MacDonald feels the less intense atmosphere will be helpful to Kilmarnock, who seem like a different proposition under new manager Steve Clarke.

He said: “I was in and around the Hearts squad as a teenager for a couple of the European games at Murrayfield and it’s something different.

“I remember at the time they were getting 20-odd thousand but it’s a big arena and that wasn’t even touching the sides of the stadium.

“They used to shut off the top tiers and I understand that it’s hard to create a good atmosphere so that can maybe be a disadvantage.

“If we can start the game well and get at Hearts early doors and silence the crowd then hopefully that can help us.

“We’ve been more organised since the gaffer came in. Even against Hibs, I’m baffled how we lost 3-0 but they were clinical with their three chances and we missed ours.”
