Murty is spoilt for choice for cup game

- By CHRIS JACK

GRAEME MURTY admits he faces a selection headache when Rangers get back down to competitive action this weekend.

The Light Blues have returned to Glasgow after spending several days at the IMG Academy and taking part in the Florida Cup.

Murty’s side were impressive in spells in the wins over Atletico Mineiro and Corinthians and he must now pick a side to face Fraserburgh in the Scottish Cup fourth round.

He said: “I have more of an idea of what a headache I’ve got because I think everyone has brought something to the party here.

“Everyone who played has added something to the collective and that is what we want, we want more good players in the squad pushing and improving the people around them and challenging for places.

“If we get that training will be better, games will be better and hopefully if we react in a positive way we can push ourselves to a higher place.”

Rangers were 2-0 down to Corinthians on Saturday afternoon but produced a terrific fightback to earn a 4-2 victory that gives them a shot at the silverware.

Andy Halliday and James Tavernier were both on target in the second half but it was Alfredo Morelos that got the Man of the Match award as he hit a brace after coming off the bench at the break.

Murty told RangersTV: “He is just a happy guy because he scores goals and we wanted to get that from him. I thought he was bright and he was lively but I thought all the attacking players were.

“I thought the two guys who gave him his goals, Murph [Jamie Murphy] had a really good combination with Danny Candeias and Sean Goss’s delivery was really good.”
